Fans of daredevil Evel Kneivel will find it interesting to learn that recently his son, Robbie Kneivel, was arrested by local law enforcement in Butte, MT for driving under the influence and causing a multi-car crash. According to local authorities, the 52-year-old Kneivel was reportedly driving his 2005 GMC Yukon at excessive speeds when he rear ended another vehicle.
The rear ending resulted in a domino effect where in the first car struck then collided with another vehicle which in turn collided with yet another vehicle. All in all four vehicles were involved in the car crash but luckily none of the car drivers sustained any injuries. Rather than remaining at the scene of the accident until authorities arrived, Robbie Kneivel took off. He was eventually located by police. Reports indicate that in addition to operating his vehicle at a high speed, he was found to be under the influence of alcohol with a blood alcohol content of 0.228 – nearly three times the current legal limit in MT of 0.08.
Montana residents are likely aware that all drivers have an on-going duty to obey and observe all traffic laws. This includes but is not limited to observing all speed limits, being an attentive driver and not driving under the influence. Car accidents can happen anytime, anywhere and without notice to unsuspecting motorists. In some cases serious injuries and even death can result.
The time following a car accident can be confusing, overwhelming and people may not know what to do. It is during such times that contacting a personal injury lawyer familiar with car accident cases to get more information, details and to have the facts of the accident evaluated while the information is still fresh in one’s mind may be helpful. If a negligent driver was involved, an injured party may be entitled to compensation.
