There are many close calls when driving on the roads. Cars or trucks often waft into other lanes, whether caused by inattention or as an adjustment due to an obstacle on the road.. Unfortunately, in certain cases such a maneuver can cause a car accident, sometimes with tragic results.

For example, during a recent morning, a fatal car accident occurred on Highway 2 near Kalispell. A car drifted out of its lane and hit a minivan head on. The driver of the minivan suffered severe injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, the driver of the car died at the scene while his passenger suffered grave injuries and was taken by helicopter to the hospital. Sadly, this was the second fatal accident to occur on the road in the same week.

When an accident occurs that causes severe injuries, those hurt may not fully understand their legal options. For example, determining what caused the crash can help to show negligence, which is important should those injured want to pursue compensation. To that end, gathering information, such as a police report, or conducting an independent investigation can pinpoint evidence to support a claim of negligence.

When a negligent driver causes an accident here in Montana with results like the one noted above, those injured or the family of those who pass away may be able to obtain damages to cover medical expenses, lost wages and even pain and suffering. Of course, it may be helpful to work with an experienced attorney to help obtain the best possible resolution. Although a lawsuit cannot make the reality of an accident go away, compensation obtained can go a long way towards addressing the harm caused.
